Navigation on Dizorb.com (Feedback)
About two weeks ago I received an email from a loyal visitor describing some things that were troubling him about Dizorb.com.
The issues that were described in the email were about our choice of wallpaper selection and how we lack to feature photography images like we had on Zixpk.com. To be honest this matter didn’t really trouble us much because our personal preference is digital wallpapers. There are already many great photography wallpaper websites, and to us nature wallpapers eventually all start to look the same.
What really caught our attention in the email was what our visitor had to say below:
I find that you cant browse through the wallpapers on this site without clicking a bunch of times to get in and out of each one, the way its setup is kinda complex and i get bored after viewing a couple wallpapers…is there a way you can make it simpler to navigate through?
Quick View
Navigation was an extremely important factor when we first created Dizorb and again when we recently redesigned Dizorb. Our goal is to allow our visitors to discover new content very easily. On our old website Zixpk.com we introduced a feature called Quick View, in which you could see all of our wallpapers on a single page with a thumbnail representation and when clicked upon you would be taken to the download page.
We have still kept this Quick View feature on Dizorb.com. The link to access our Quick View gallery is located on the Top Navigation of the page. It is the third link which reads “HD Wallpapers: Quick View.” Our Quick view gallery displays all of our wallpapers on a single page.

Quick View
It would be great to receive feedback on how we can improve the visibility of the Quick View link because it seems that our visitor who wrote us the email did not know about this feature on Dizorb.com.

Categories/ Tags/ Bread Crumbs
Aside from our Quick View option on Dizorb.com we also allow our visitors to browse our website based on categories. To the right of our Dizorb.com logo we have links to content sorted by categories, which includes a wallpaper category. At the footer of our page we have a tag cloud which can also narrow down content.
What many may not notice at first is that inside every post we have a bread crumb trail.

Bread Crumb Trail
Our bread crumb trail is a list of hyper-links which helps you navigate our website, it also shows you the category that the post is under. In the case of the image sample above the post is a wallpaper feature so the bread crumb shows a link back to the home page and also a link to the category featuring similar content as the current post. The bread crumb also shows the tittle of the current post. With bread crumbs you can trace back your steps on Dizorb.com.

Wallpaper download links
After getting the email from our visitors, we sought to see what area we believed could use a little improvement in the navigation department.
The problem that we discovered was in the actual downloading of the wallpapers. The way that we listed our wallpaper resolution links was bit much (red) to handle on the eyes. So it was sensory overload, which would explain why people would leave comments asking for their screen resolution even though it was already listed.

Old wallpaper download links
We went ahead and modified our wallpaper download links into vertical columns instead of displaying them horizontal. We also put each resolution in its own gray box that when hovered over turns red. We also moved around a few of the resolutions into similar categories.

New wallpaper download links
We hope that the modifications that we have done to the actual download links will also our visitors to spot their screen resolutions much quicker without the sensory overload. (Right now not all of our wallpaper features have the new vertical download columns, we will be modifying our old posts to feature the new download navigation.) Your can see an example of our new download links on this wallpaper feature.

Feedback
If it wasn’t for the email that our concerned visitor sent us, we might have never even thought of changing our wallpaper download links. Your feedback is very important to us. If you have a suggestion on how we can further improve the navigation on Dizorb or any other type of feedback please leave a comment our send us an email!

Dizorb site rocks =)
As much as I hate to say it, I feel Zixpk did have better looking wallpapers…
I for one personally think that the navigation is fine. The new download feature is very welcome because YES the old one is sensory overload
