Dizorb.com Is back! and on Host Gator

We are sorry for having been down for a while.
The reason why dizorb.com was down for a week or two was because we were in the process of switching servers. We were fed up with our current Media Temple server. Our previous server was the Media Temple Grid Server. At first glance this seems like a great hosting package for a blog, it has 100Gb of storage, 1 TB of network transfer, etc, all for $20/month…

What they don’t seem to tell you is something they like to call GPU. I am not going to get into the specifics of what GPU are but its essentially a media temple bull-fuck calculations of actual CPU.

Because of media Temples GPU, you will NEVER use that 100GB of storage, or that 1Tb of network transfer. You will end up using your 1000 allocated “GPUs ” before you ever even use a fraction of those other resources. Also if your website has timthumb like dizorb uses, it is a “GPU” hog. I had to suspend dizorb.com for a week because I was afraid of going over our allocated 1000 “GPUs” for the second time. For every 1 GPU that you go over your allocated amount, you are charged $0.10. Which adds up quickly. My first time I ranked a bill of nearly $250!!!! What they did out of “courtesy” was slash my bill in half. I had to pay $150 because I had gone over the allocated “GPU.”

Good Bye Media Temple, Hello Host Gator

For $150 I could have gotten a much better server. So that is exactly what I did this time around. In order for my website not to go over the allocated 1000 GPU for this month, I had to suspend dizorb.com for about a week, until a new billing period began. I had enough of the “GPU” bullshit.

I looked at many hosting providers, and one of the highest recommended was Host Gator and I am very glad to have chosen them. Host Gator provides free website transfers to your new Host Gator account. All I needed to do was give them the info for my old Media Temple account and they took care of transferring over all my files my my Media Temple server onto my new Host Gator dedicated server. This saved me a lot of time and hassle.

However everything did not go smoothly, but it was not Host Gators fault. For some reason my website would not load on my new Host Gator server. Thank god for Host Gators incredible customer service. I was able to chat with a live tech support within two minutes. Not like Media Temple customer support which for emails takes about 24 hrs and on the phone I was on hold for over 40 min.

Two amazing customer support technicians named Justin and Ben, worked for hours trying to figure out what was causing my website from loading. They were extremely dedicated to trying to solve the issue, all along while sending me multiple emails about the progression. Eventually they were able to correct everything.

So for anyone looking for a Great website host I would highly recommend Host Gator, their customer support went above and beyond by taking the time to deal personally with my websites issues.
